Engaged in 2006 to lead the integration of 2 major dairy home delivery businesses, Ixantis consultants worked with the Board of Dairy Crest's retail home delivery business to identify radical new ways to halt a 20-year industry decline in volumes and trading customers.
Building on its experience in online trading, Ixantis proposed a regional trial of a new, state-of-the-art home delivery platform to bring the benefits of online shopping to Dairy Crest's existing customers and to stimulate new customer acquisition.
From the decision to go ahead with the trial, Ixantis deployed a branded, fully-hosted solution into the market in just 3 months. Based on the iMarkets platform, the solution featured both a customer 'front-end' and a comprehensive web-based 'back-end' to support marketing, operations, finance and customer service functions. In addition, Dairy Crest were able for the first time to view demand centrally and to receive consumer feedback direct via the websites.
Within months of the launch the online 'milk&more' service was extended to most of southern England with spectacular business results and to overwhelmingly positive consumer feedback.
